1.8 million signatures from South-West endorse Jonathan for second term

imageNo fewer than 1.8 million signatures from South-West endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan for the second term in Ibadan on Saturday.

Prominent politicians and their supporters across party aliening gave the endorsement at a rally organised by Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN) in Ibadan.

TAN is a non-governmental organisation which promotes good governance and fosters continuity

The Chief of Staff to the President, retired Gen. Jones Arogboofa, said that the people of the zone appreciated Jonathan for his unprecedented achievements.

“You are a performing and transforming president and the people of South-West are calling on you to be president again”, he said.

The Majority Leader, House of Representatives, Alhaja Mulikat Akande-Adeola, said that the president would at anytime get the support of the zone due to his achievements.

“He is the best man for the job, tested and trusted. He has consistently support the plight of the women. You can see the turnout of women here’’, she said.

Chief Olajumoke Akinjide, the Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), said the president deserved the support, having transformed the nation tremendously.

“I mobilised over 25,000 people to this event, in spite of the short notice, to join me in appreciating a man of honour, performer and transformer’’, Akinjide said.

The Minister of State for Works, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, said that the Ekiti people had shown support for Jonathan, having produced the first PDP governor-elect from the zone.

He stressed that “In Ekiti, we are solidly behind Jonathan”.

Chief Ebenezer Babatope, a former Aviation Minister, said that the people of Yorubaland loves beauty a lot, saying Jonathan had done beautifully.

Dr Akinwunmi Adesina, Minister of Agriculture form Ogun said that the president deserved commendation and support of all.

“The president had through his transformation agenda boosted food sufficiency in the country”, Adesina said.

Chief Olusola Oke, a former Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in Ondo State, said that the people of the state were behind the president.

“Whatever we jointly support will definitely yield good result. Jonathan has done well’’, Oke said.

Chief Olabode George, a PDP leader from Lagos State, urged the people to come out in 2015 to support a rare leader, who had transformed the nation.

George described the president as a man who had worked and served the people in every facet of life and had tremendously transformed the economy to the largest in Africa.

In his speech, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala , a former governor of Oyo State, said that the president meant well for Nigeria, adding that he had displayed good leadership qualities.

The event was attended by Chief Pius Anyim Pius, Secretary to the Government of Federation, Chief Doyin Okupe, Chief Iyiola Omisore, Mr Jide Adeniji.

Others were Chief Buruji Kashamu, Sen. Ayoade Adeseun, Chief Kingsley Kuku, Sen. Hosea Agboola, Ajibola Muraina and a former governor of Ogun, Gbenga Daniel.
