15 killed in Mogadishu fighting
At least fifteen people have been confirmed dead and more than twenty others wounded when Somali armed forces supported by AMISOM troops invaded the home of war lord and former Wadajir district commissioner Ahmed Adow Dai in Mogadishu today.
According to the residents of the capital heavy exchange of fire have been heard in the capital in the early hours of the morning.
The federal government of Somalia has been in a security operation to disarm heavily armed militants who take orders from former war lords in the city.
Speaking to the local media from undisclosed location Ahmed Dai said government forces supported by Africa union troops invaded his home without prior notice and reason saying he was forced to defend himself.
Somali armed forces and AMISOM troops are in full control of Ahmed Dai house and the government is yet comment on the issue.
The fighting has affected the operation of the Mogadishu international airport which was close to the area of fighting forcing some international flights from the neighboring countries such as Kenyan cancelled.
