20 killed and score others wounded in North South Somalia border

At least 20 people including fighting factions from Khatumo regional state of Somalia and the self declared state of Somali land have died in renewed clashes in Lascanod town in northern Somalia.

The fighting broke out in Sahdere where the inauguration of the newly elected president of the regional state of Khatumo Mr. Al Khalif Galeyr was taking place.

Reports say that the delegates who were invited to attend the inauguration ceremony crossed the border to the nearing Ethiopia to escape the fighting.

A member of a parliament in Khatumo state was also arrested by the security forces from the self declared state of Somali land.

The forces from the self declared state of Somali land are in full control of the area.

General Ismail Shaqale, the military chief of the self declared state of Somali land has said weapons from Kismayu and Mogadishu were brought in the area which he said was an act of aggression that forced them to respond.
