2014 World Cup: Suarez’s brace sinks England, Colombia beat Cameroon
Luis Suarez returned to action four weeks after surgery on his knee, to score twice as Uruguay beat England 2-1.
Both teams came out fighting, after they lost their opening games. It was the South Americans who went into the break one goal up, after Edison Cavani set up Suarez to head past Joe Hart.
Wayne Rooney grabbed his first ever World Cup goal, slotting past Muslera after great work from Glen Johnson down the right. However, it was Suarez that had the last word, as he capitalised on Steven Gerrard’s errant back header to fire home the winner.
In the first game of the day, James Rodriguez scored his second goal of the competition, as Colombia claimed their second successive win, after Gervinho cancelled out Juan Quintero’s goal.
