2015: PDP Leadership Crisis Rocks Izzi
by Wilfred Chimeremeze
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Acting Chairman in Izzi Local Government Areas has warned politicians against taking any action that would cause the breach of peace and progress in the area.
The acting chairman of PDP in Izzi Local Government Area, Mr. Andrew Okeye who gave the warning while speaking with newsmen said that he did not give any release or convened any meeting in the area for the purpose of electing local executive committee members of the party as being alleged by some disgruntled elements in the party, who are bent on causing confusion.
He explained that he took over as the Acting Chairman of the party in the area, after the death of the Chairman, Chief Nwankwo Chuma in accordance with the PDP constitution as the Vice-Chairman.
According to him, the State Executive had earlier directed that every vacant position be filled at the ward level before the local level, explaining that the directive has been peacefully complied with. He said: “anybody having meeting in Izzi Local Government area is not a member of our party. So, I nullify any meeting; when, we shall meet, I will give a secular to that effect”.
He expressed surprise that a group of people matched to his office to attend a purported meeting of PDP in the area when I never convened any one.
He described as none-consequential any meeting purportedly held for the purpose of election in the area, which he never authorized.
According to him, he will resist any attempt to break PDP constitution in the area of his jurisdiction.
