A Call for Mass Protest Against Ethiopian Government
We, the First Hijrah Ethio/American Muslim community in the Washington Metropolitan Area, are gravely concerned about the Ethiopian government’s interference in Ethiopian Muslims’ religious affairs by forcefully imposing a religious sect of its choice.
According to different media outlets the Ethiopian government officials admitted killing 5 of its Muslim citizens among them a 6 year old child. This latest victims of the government brutality took place in Oromia region in a town of Assasa. Immediately after the massacre, hundreds of innocent Muslims are rounded and sent to jail outside the town. The mass arrest continues until recently where the authorities went house to house rounding up women and girls that they found and sent them to prisons in the town of Shashemene.
As reported in different international media, Ethiopian Muslims were peacefully protesting in their hundreds of thousands throughout the country demanding an end to the government’s meddling in the religious affairs of its people in utter disregard of the constitution.
Therefore, we the Ethio/American Muslims of the Washington Metro Area announce our plan to stage a mass protest on May 31, 2012.
