Adamawa Governorship: Marwa Declares Under PDP

A head of the governorship election in Adamawa, a former military administrator of Lagos state, General Buba Marwa (rtd) over the weekend, obtained the nomination form and declared his intension to contest the election under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) party’s ticket.
The former Military of Administrator of Lagos State was a former Nigerian Ambassador to South Africa.
Marwa is seen as a strong contender for the September 6, 2014 PDP primary. He is said to have consulted widely before picking the nomination form.
A local politician based in Yola, Solomon Gaya, said “Marwa will be a good governor for Adamawa State. His experience as a former governor of Lagos State where he performed very well will count for us.
“Our state, which is currently challenged by insecurity and under emergency requires the leadership of someone like Marwa who knows the terrain very well as a former governor of Old Borno State (with Yobe State).
“We can’t afford to get it wrong this time as a people,” Gaya added.
Marwa has promised to salvage Adamawa State from years of ruin and return good governance to the people. He recently joined Twitter @TeamBubaMarwa to allow his numerous supporters outside Adamawa State and Nigeria, monitor his programmes.
Others, who have purchased their nomination form include, the Acting Governor, Umaru Fintiri, a former Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission, Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Modibbo and the immediate past Special Adviser on Political Matters to the President, Ahmed Gulak.
Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, who defected to the PDP from the APC weekend, just because he was promised a shot at the governorship ticket by some interests in the party, is also in the race.
