Adamawa guber: Marwa obtains PDP nomination form
One of the leading contenders for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket in the governorship election in Adamawa State, retired General Buba Marwa has obtained a nomination form for under the party on Sunday.
Marwa, who is said to have consulted widely before picking the nomination form is believed to be a strong aspirant for the September 6, 2014 PDP primary.
Speaking on his candidacy, a Yola-based politician, Solomon Gaya, said “Marwa will be a good governor for Adamawa State. His experience as a former governor of Lagos State where he performed very well will count for us.
“Our state, which is currently challenged by insecurity and under emergency requires the leadership of someone like Marwa who knows the terrain very well as a former governor of Old Borno State (with Yobe State).
“We can’t afford to get it wrong this time as a people,” Gaya added.
The former Military Administrator of Lagos State, who was a former Nigerian Ambassador to South Africa, has promised to salvage Adamawa State from years of ruin and return good governance to the people. He recently signed up to Twitter to afford his numerous supporters outside Adamawa State and Nigeria to interact with him and monitor his programmes.
Other aspirants for the PDP ticket who have picked their nomination form include, the Acting Governor, Umaru Fintiri, a former Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission, Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Modibbo and the immediate past Special Adviser on Political Matters to President Jonathan, Ahmed Gulak.
