Cape Verde’s Platini (left) and South Africa’s Bongani Khumalo (right) fight for the ball during the opening match of the Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

Cape Verde go into their final group game unbeaten, having defied pre-tournament predictions with two draws.

The debutants impressed against South Africa and Morocco and will again look to Ryan Mendes and Platini for inspiration.

Angola need a win, as they sit bottom of Group A after a 2-0 defeat to the hosts and a goalless draw with Morocco .

They will need target man Manucho to find his touch as they continue to search for their first goal.

Cape Verde coach Lucio Antunes:

“This game is crucial for the two teams as victory could take us through to the quarter-finals.

“We will do our best to win the game, which will be difficult against a good Angola team, who parade some talented players who can create trouble for us.”

Cape Verde captain and defender Nando :

“For us, just to be here is an achievement.

“We’re off to a good start and we now want to finish well.

“Finishing well means going to the quarter-finals, the next stage.”

Angola coach Gustavo Ferrin:

“It is not over for us in this tournament. We still have another match.

“Anything can happen there. We have to monitor other results in the group and take it from there.

“We lost against South Africa and that didn’t help us.”
