South Africa failed to bounce back from last weekend’s dismal 1-1 home draw against Ethiopia after another 1-1 stalemate in Botswana.

Morgan Gould gave the visitors the lead in the 15th minute but Bafana then watched in horror as their team failed to push on their advantage.

As half-time approached, Ofentse Nato fired in the equaliser – no more than the Zebras deserved.

Steve Komphela failed to get South Africa back to winning ways

Komphela was assistant coach this time a week ago but was elevated to his current role after Pitso Mosimane left his job in the wake of Sunday’s 1-1 home draw at home to Ethiopia.

South Africa have now not won a match since August, and have scored just seven goals in their last eight qualifiers.
