All African Athletic Championships: NSCDC boss commends Team Nigeria
Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Dr. Ade Abolurin has congratulated members of the Team Nigeria for their shining performances in the just concluded All African Athletics championship held in Morocco.
He also praised the Commonwealth Team, saying the personnel of the Corps, who participated, made Nigeria and the Service in particular proud by topping the medals table.
According to Abolurin, NSCDC personnel that took part in the All African Athletics Championship won 3 gold medals, 2 Silver, and 1 Bronze out of the total medallion brought back to the country.
He recalled that the Corps had in several outings at national and international levels made the nation proud by winning medals, stressing that the nation had a lot of sports men and women who could win more laurels if adequately motivated.
The Corps boss said in complementing the effort of the Sports Ministry, it usually hunts for professionals in different fields, irrespective of their background, religion, and tribe, in order to harness their talents and prepare them for competitions.
He, however, advocated the need for constant training and retraining of the athletes ahead of their tournament, adding that “when players train together they understand themselves and adopt a common strategy of defeating their opponent”.
He further urged Team Nigeria to keep the flag flying at all times to justify the confidence and support of President Goodluck Jonathan and all citizens.
