Asmir Begovic honoured with Guinness Longest Goal award

Asmir_Begovic_Reco_2065325aGuinness World Records have recognized the goal scored by Asmir Begovic of Stoke city against Southampton during the 2013/2014 Barclay Premier league season match as the World Longest Goal.

The goal was selected because of its remarkable long-range, a distance of 92metres.

DailyPost recalls that in the premier league match, Begovic, A goal keeper with Stoke City scored an amazing goal from his own eighteen yard box 12 seconds after kickoff. While most people have said it was an amazing strike from such a distance, few others have termed the goal a lucky one.

Begovic speaking to the club website said, ” I feel amazing to be honoured in this way and as a goalkeeper I didn’t expect this to happen, not for this type of record anyway. I will take it though and enjoy it

”I really do appreciate this award and the certificate will certainly take pride of place on the wall at home
