ATUPELE MULUZIBLANTYRE (MaraPost)–United Democratic Front (UDF) President Atupele Austin Muluzi, who presented nomination papers Wednesday morning, says Malawi need a new generation of leaders who understands people’s needs regardless of their political affiliation.

The young Muluzi, the fifth Presidential candidate to file his candidature for the Office of the President, said the filing of nomination papers signifies another milestone in attempt to bail Malawians out of economic challenges.

“Much as we appreciate that we have been independent for 50 years, but what is independence without economic freedom? Our Agenda for Change is in line with what people want.

“We will unveil our manifesto by th end of this month and Malawians will know that we are transforming the economy of this country,” said Atupele.

He said if given the mandate to rule this country, they will introduce universal subsidy in order to defeat hunger and will also introduce social support to vulnerable groups such as the elderly and disabled.

“We will manage our domestic debt, pursue and enhance friendly business environment. We shall also see to it that Cabinet Ministers and Public Service is not only accountable to few individuals but to all Malawians.

Atupele said they will strive to improve the lives of people by ensuring that the unemployment rate is reduced within shortest period of time.

“I am proud to be a Malawian. I am proud to serve Malawians. This election is about economic change. Malawians must and should speak through the ballot papers, ” said Atupele.
