A fatal car accident that occurred on Monday between the villages of Sanyang and Tanji in Kombo South has claimed the lives of three people and left three others seriously injured.

The public relations officer of the Gambia Police Force, ASP David Kujabi, told the Daily Observer that the accident involved a truck and a passenger van.

“The truck, with registration number BJL 1878k, was heading towards Sanyang from Tanji, Kombo South, and in front of it was a commercial van with the registration number BJL8856J. The truck hit the rear of the van causing injuries to the passengers on board,” he explained.

Kujabi said the injured were rushed to Brufut health centre, but later referred to Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital (EFSTH) in Banjul where three of them were pronounced dead. He stated that the Police are deepening their investigations to establish the actual cause of the accident.
