The battle for leadership of Gambia’s Football House began yesterday after the Normalisation Committee announced they have opened nominations for next month’s elective congress.

Writing on behalf of the committee, member Ba S Jabbi disclosed that, the congress that will usher in a new executive following the dissolution of the previous Exco will be held on September 20, instead of the September date given by FIFA.

The press release that was issued last evening noted that the Football Federation is now inviting nominations for the position of the GFF presidency effective August 20 to the 27 of the same month.

“Article 41.3 of the GFF Constitution quote: “Only members of the GFF may propose candidates for the office of the president. Members shall notify General Secretary in writing of the names of a candidate for the presidency of GFF at least one month before the date of the General Assembly.”

The release added that the Normalisation Committee shall serve as the electoral board of the elections. “All members of the GFF are urged to cope with the NC to have a successful process to the election,” the release concluded.
