BlackBerry Z3 pre-order inventory sells out for three Indonesian carriers
As we told you on Sunday, the BlackBerry Z3 is now available to be pre-ordered in Indonesia. Already, three carriers in the country are reporting that they have been sold out of the new BlackBerry 10 model. In fact, it took all of seven hours for the limited Jakarta Edition of the phone to sell out at Elevenia. The Jakarta Edition of the phone has Jakarta inscribed on the back of the device.
The BlackBerry Z3 is the first model to come out of a five year deal between contract manufacturer Foxconn and BlackBerry. Low-end phones for the emerging markets are designed, produced and warehoused by Foxconn, with BlackBerry providing the OS. Both firms will split the profits.
While the initial model does not support LTE connectivity, there is talk of such a device being on the way, Meanwhile, some Indonesian carriers are offering the phone for as low as $120 on contract.
While this seems to mean that the regime of John Chen is off to a good start, the same thing seemed to take place when early reports said that the BlackBerry Z10 launch was a success for then CEO Thorsten Heins last year. But it was all downhill from there, and by the end of the year, Heins was out and Chen was in.
Besides Elevenia, the two other Indonesian carriers that sold out of their BlackBerry Z3 pre-order inventory are Jeruknipis and Globalteleshop.
