Cannon share spoils with New Germany
Cannon FC and New Germany were forced to settle for a share of the spoils in both sides’ opening game at the ongoing Serekunda East nawettan competition on Tuesday.
Watched by hundreds of football enthusiasts, both teams played well with the expansive football they deployed but it was the more experienced Cannon that had the upper hand and created a couple of decent scoring chances but failed to capatalise on any.
After the game, Ebrima Bah the Cannon coach told Observer Sports that a draw was a fare result. He promised to improve in their next game as they seek an early qualification to the knockout stages of the competition.
Ousainou Cham, the man on the technical area for New Germany expressed similar sentiments but noted that they were very disappointed not to have defeated an opponent they shared a training ground with. He nonetheless hailed his players for putting up what he described as a complete performance.
Expressing high regards for their neighbours, Cham promised to go back to the drawing board to rectify their deficiencies while urging his players to prove that they are worthy of a place in the knockout stages when they entertain reigning champions and Super Cup winners Milan in their next encounter.
