Chelsea trigger Remy’s £8m release clause
Jose Mourinho has moved quickly to replace AC Milan-bound Fernando Torres, by activating Loic Remy’s release clause, which is around £8m.
The Blues confirmed on Friday, that they had reached an agreement on a two-year loan deal for Torres to move, leaving only Diego Costa and Didier Drogba as the senior strikers at Stamford Bridge.
It is understood that Chelsea first contacted Remy’s agents, when they feared Drogba had sustained a long term injury earlier this month.
The 27-year-old, who will earn around £80,000-per-week, spent last season on loan at Newcastle where he scored 14 goals in 26 league games.
