Odemwingie: Ankle injury

CRYSTAL PALACE have turned their attentions to Peter Odwemwingie to spearhead their charge for promotion from the Championsip.

The Eagles want Odemwingie on loan with a view to a permanent move in the summer if they are promoted.

Odemwingie, 31, thought he was moving to QPR on transfer deadline day but West Brom were unable to agree terms with the London club.

The Nigeria international has since launched a series of Twitter attacks against the club after having his transfer request rejected.

One of the main attractions for Odemwingie at QPR was the £70,000 a week salary, so it remains to be seen whether Crystal Palace are able to tempt the player.

Clarke described Odemwingie’s actions as “total lunacy” and is aware he has caused some unrest among his team-mates —however his departure would leave him sort of options in attack.

Odemwingie returned to training this week after being allowed to miss the weekend clash with Tottenham.

Blackburn are still interested in signing West Brom winger Jerome Thomas — but only on loan due to the closure of the transfer window.

Thomas was close to making a £600,00 move to Ewood Park on deadline but the deal failed to go through in time.

New Rovers boss Michael Appleton – a former West Brom number two – confirmed he was interested in signing Thomas.
