The ongoing construction of the Federal Government Gbaregolor-Ogriegbene and Torugbene bridges and roads projects in Bomadi and Burutu Local Government Areas embarked upon by President Goodluck Jonathan would change the face of the Ijaw nation.
The members representing Burutu one, two and Bomadi constituencies in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hons Daniel Yingi, Kennedy Daubry and Oboro Preyor, stated this while inspecting the projects in the various council areas.
They said the massive bridges and roads projects were novel projects that would further open up the terrain for development, stressing that only a committed leader would embark on such a project.
The lawmakers noted that if successive Federal Government administrations had embarked on such developmental projects, the region would have been developed to an extent.
According to the lawmakers, the roads construction cut across three local government areas of Ughelli South, Bomadi and Burutu and several communities which had remained without roads all these years.
They said it was a thing of joy to see such gigantic development taking place in the Niger Delta region and commended President Goodluck Jonathan for the giant strides.
The lawmakers also commended Senator James Manager for attracting such development projects to the area in spite of challenges.
They lauded the contracting firm, Setraco, for the quality and standard of work done so far in the difficult terrain, saying it shows their commitment to the project.
Yingi, Daubry and Preyor said the various communities and youths have supported and cooperated with the contractors, hence the pace of work done so far
