England Beat Brazil 2-1 at Wembley
England had Joe Hart to thank when his fine penalty save from Ronaldinho after 19 minutes kept the score at 0-0.
The home side were head eight minutes later when Wayne Rooney slotted home a rebound after Julio Cesar denied Theo Walcott.
England had to settle for a one goal lead at half-time when Cesar again saved from Walcott at his near post just before the interval.
Brazil brought on striker Fred at half-time and the Fluminese player equalised less than three minutes after coming on.
The forward capitalised on a mistake by Gary Cahill to finish from just inside the penalty area.
But England were in front 12 minutes later when Frank Lampard’s curling shot went in off the under-side of the crossbar.
Chelsea playmaker Oscar pulled an effort wide in stoppage time to waste Brazil’s best chance of coming away from London with a draw.
The result means England celebrated Ashley Cole’s 100th cap in style ahead of next month’s World Cup qualifiers against San Marino and Montenegro.
