Father, 62, Docked For Aiding Son’s Escape

A 62-year-old man, Tajudeen Fasasi, on Wednesday appeared before a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly aiding the escape of his son, Gafar Fasasi.

The accused, is facing two counts of conspiracy and aiding to escape.

According to the prosecutor, Cpl. Jimah Iseghede, the accused committed the offences on Sept. 24, 2013 at his residence.

He said the accused stood as a guarantor for his son at the police station and he was released to him.

Iseghede said when the son was needed at the police station, the father could not produce him.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 16 (1) and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State.

However, the accused pleaded not guilty to both counts of the charge.

The Magistrate, Mrs A.F. Adeeyo, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000, with one surety in like sum.

She adjourned the case till April 29 for mention.
