Simataa2The Football Association of Zambia has banned football administrator Simataa Simataa from “all Football Association of Zambia activities for life”.

Simataa, a veteran football coach, who has managed teams in the lower leagues including UNZA Stars, Amakumbi, Makumbi Stars and now Mtendere Football Club, was banned for life due to allegedly making remarks against the Football Association of Zambia on Radio Phoenix on December 20, 2013.

Simataa has coached the national team and junior national teams before including the Under 17 in 2002 and has also been acting FAZ president.

Simataa was also Zambia Football Coaches Association (ZAFCA) general secretary.

He has been a vocal critic of the Kalusha Bwalya-led FAZ executive committee prefering to operate with Andrew Kamanga with whom they almost led a revolt against Kalusha in 2011 and 2012.

The FAZ disciplinary committee in 2011 suspended Simataa for three months, an act perceived as an attempt to block the outspoken administrator, who was general secretary of the Andrew Kamanga-led FAZ faction, from attending the annual general meeting in March 2011.

It is yet to be seen how this ban will pan out including whether it will reignite the debate of Kalusha’s inadequacies in FAZ.

The letter is hereby reproduced:

Dear Sir,

1.0 We refer to our letters dated 20th Dember 2013 and 27th January 2014.

In that letter, you were requested to exculpate yourself of those remarks but you chose to send an email requesting for proof.

(a) The legal action against Football Association of Zambia employees, namely General Secretary Mr George Kasengele, Finance Manager Mr Sam Phiri and Communications Manager Erick Mwanza, a matter which is still in the Courts of Law.

(b) Remarks made against the Football Association of Zambia on a Radio Phoenix programme on 20th December 2013.

4.0 The Disciplinary Committee met on 1st February 2014 and deliberated on the two cases and the following were the resolutions of their sitting:

Yours faithfully
For and on behalf of the:

George K. Kasengele
