Felicia Henderson launches Clean Kits Delivery initiative
IN a bid to address the increasing rate of infections among nursing mothers and newborns, notable American TV personality, Felicia Henderson, is championing the cause of delivering clean birth kits under the umbrella of her non-governmental organisation called The Way Foundation.
The actress cum entrepreneur, in collaboration with Traffina Foundation, said she aimed to deliver 50,000 kits to indigenous pregnant women by 2015, thereby touching at least 100,000 lives.
The unveiling of the initiative, which holds today at Sheraton Hotel, Abuja, will be the first of its kind in Nigeria.
According to her, it is not just about delivering the clean delivery kits to the women, but it is also an intensive education on how to take proper care of themselves as well as their newborn babies.
“This initiative was formed based on the astounding number of women and babies we lose daily to preventable infections. So, we have taken over the cause, in order to address the issues of maternal and infant mortality and morbidity. If we can find cost effective solutions to simple issues, I believe we can create a sustainable drive,” she said.
