ABUJA—The Federal Government, yesterday, declared next Tuesday, May 1, 2012, as public holiday to mark this year’s workers’ day.

Similarly, May 29 has been declared a public holiday for Nigerians to celebrate the country’s Democracy Day.

Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro, in a statement by his Permanent Secretary, Linus Awute, in Abuja, charged all Nigerian workers to consider workers’ Day as a celebration of the dignity of mankind.

Moro urged Nigerians at home and in the diaspora to do everything humanly possible to defend, sustain and deepen the course of democracy in Nigeria to accelerate the development of the country.

He also called on political actors and stakeholders to use the day for stock-taking in order to reposition the country for delivery of greater democracy dividends to its citizens.” Vangurad
