FG Okays N2.2Bn For Power Transmission Projects In Anambra

The Federal Government has awarded two power transmission projects in Anambra State for a total sum of $14 million (about N2.2 billion).

 

The Minister of Power, Professor Chinedu Nebo, told State House journalists that the Federal Executive Council (FEC) approved both projects.

 

The first project was the $5.99 million contract for engineering design, manufacture, supply, construction testing and commissioning of Onitsha -Ifitedunu 132 KV transmission line in favuor of Messrs Sinotec-CCC International Joint Venture.

 

According to Nebo, the contract sum is payable at the prevailing exchange rate at the time of payment plus N1,141,865, 028.73. inclusive of N271,912,872.12  for 5 percent VAT and 10 percent contingency with a completion period of 24 months.

 

He said the council also approved the award of $8.32 million contract for engineering design, manufacture, supply, construction testing and commissioning of 2×60 MVA, 132/33Kv substation at Ifitedunu and 2x 132 line bays extension at Onitsha in favour of Messrs MBH Power Limited.

 

The contract sum, he said, was payable at the prevailing exchange rate at the time of payment plus N864.3 million inclusive of N431, 852,916.28 for the right of way compensation, 5 percent VAT and 10 percent contingency with a completion period of 24 months.
