kaseba-corruptionAn investigation has revealed that there were schemes by the government and family members to evacuate ailing president Michael Sata from Israel to India for continued medical treatment.

The investigation showed that First Lady Dr Christine Kaseba had travelled to Bangalore, India in a bid to make arrangements for Sata evacuation from Israel.

Sources both in India and Zambia have confirmed that Kaseba visited Life Line Medical Centre in Bangalore and this is one of the best hospitals in that country.

Coincidentally, senior Chieftainess Nkomeshya is also admitted at Life Line Medical Centre in Bangalore where she was sponsored by some private sources to undergo a heart treatment. The traditional leader is accompanied to Bangalore by her principal advisor John Luputa.

However, the transfer from Israel to India may not be possible given his condition and pressure to return back home.

Michael Sata has been in Israel on what the government says is a working holiday that includes medical treatment. However, the news blogs and other international media houses, including those in Israel have published news that Sata was being treated for advanced cancer in that country.

He left Zambia secretly and his trip to Israel had remained a mystery because the government said Sata travelled to Israel for an official visit, but this boob was exposed after outgoing Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres went to the United States for a series of engagements with President Barack Obama.

Hitherto, the government insists Sata was in Israel for a working holiday, although it has become abundantly clear that Sata was admitted in one of the military health facilities where he was being treated for a concoction of ailments that includes prostate cancer.

According to secret government sources, Sata had demanded that he be moved from Israel to India where there were good and competent doctors.

“The president even when he was in the opposition prefers Indian doctors. He said he trusted Indian doctors that any other. He made this demand to be taken to India away from Israel,” the source said.

Last week, an anonymous doctor at Life Line Medical Centre in Bangalore where Sata was scheduled to be taken confirmed the presence of Zambian security personnel and other people from Zambia.

“There are some Zambians here and one of them is a chief. There are some people and I have heard someone big may come for admission. I will be able to give you details after the arrangements are finalised,” the doctor said on a telephone call from Lusaka.

The government source said Michael Sata wanted to be evacuated to India, but he was in a very unstable condition that included a hiccup, which made it precarious to endure the long flight from Israel to India.

“This is why Mulenga Sata has travelled to Israel with other relatives and senior government officials to look into these matters. Although he is the president, the presence of the president’s relatives is very cardinal at this moment to make decisions because the government can only facilitate,” the source said.

The government has warned both journalists and ordinary citizens against discussing Michael Sata’s health. Some journalists and ordinary people have been nabbed for discussing the president’s failing health.
