McDonald_Chipenzi-The Foundation for Democratic Process has wondered why President Michael Sata is failing to attend important international meetings if he is well as purported by his handlers.

FODEP Executive Director MacDonald Chipenzi says for as long as there was no comprehensive explanation from government, the speculation will continue to mount.

Chipenzi wondered why if President Sata was fit could not take the short trip next week to Victoria Falls town to attend the SADC Heads of State summit.

President Sata was also absent at last year’s SADC meeting raising questions as to how much seriousness he attaches to the regional block.

“What is happening to the President? Because as Zambians we move a lot and people ask these questions, that why is it that your President doesn’t attend these meetings?” Chipenzi said.

“Without any comprehensive explanation you expect us to feast on rumours and speculation therefore we would like to see the president attend some of these meetings like at the Victoria town here in Zimbabwe he can go and come back the same day.”

He said, “Why is he not interested in these meetings if he is well and running and doing his job? So unless and when we hear a proper explanation people will continue to demand that the president is not doing a service to this country.”
