George W Bush goes on Oprah Winfrey charm offensive
George W Bush gave a witty, wise-cracking performance on the Oprah Winfrey Show, revealing his relief that his days in the White House were over, says Rachel Ray.
One thing that hasn’t been affected after eight stressful years as POTUS is Mr Bush’s sense of humour. And after watching his engaging and frequently funny performance on The Oprah Winfrey Show on the publication day of his autobiography Decision Points, it would be fair to conclude that many viewers will have a kinder, gentler feeling toward this man who has been vilified as unintelligent, evil, and racist.
Host Oprah, looking demure in an elegant navy blue dress and a long, smooth hair-do, assured Mr Bush that she was “really, really, really proud” to have him on her show. A very public supporter of President Obama, Oprah made appearances on his behalf after endorsing him during an appearance on Larry King Live.
But Oprah was clearly captivated by the fatigued-looking but relaxed former president’s warmth, sincerity and almost coquettish behavior, as he tilted his head to one side while answering some questions.
