Governor Umaru Tanko Almakura of Nasarawa state has said that President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s has given him a go head to bring to book anyone found to be linked with the killings of over 120 security personnel in Alakyo village in Lafia local government area of the state a year ago.
The Governor made this known yesterday during his visit to some of the affected communities; he vowed to deal with all the perpetrators and sponsors of the crisis in the state.
“I know those who are involved in the crisis and we are not going to spare anybody including the politicians who are behind the persistent ethnic insurgency in the state. The president has given me the go ahead to prosecute all 58 persons indicted by the Commission of enquiry on the killings of security operatives last year”, he said.
“The security agents in the state have arrested over 5 suspects and some others who were seen by the security agents to be fully involved during the recent crisis shall be fished out for appropriate prosecution”, Almakura added.
He assured also that plans were on ground to hold a peace meeting that would bring all the stakeholders in the state and all the aggrieved communities together for a face to face peace talk with the aim to end the ethnic rivalry and turbulence that have continued to wreck the state since the past 3 years.
