'Greed' behind murder of Cape Town girl
CAPE TOWN – The mother of a 10 year-old girl found dead under her grandfather’s bed in Cape Town last week, says it will take time to forgive her daughters’ killers.
Three men related to Chelsea Godlo are facing charges of rape and murder.
The little girl was buried in Heideveld earlier on Saturday.
Chelsea went missing last week and after a day searching for her, she was found dead under her own grandfather’s bed.
Her mother and aunt say when they discovered her, she was wrapped inside a postbag, covered with blood stains.
Family spokesman Herbert Peters said greed was the motive behind the girl’s murder.
“It’s about inheritance, this is what happens when people fight over inheritance, its greed,” said Peters.
Chelsea’s mother Nolee Godlo said it won’t be easy forgiving her child’s killers.
“The way she passed on is painful. I never thought of anything like this, but like they say, she’s in God’s hands now, not mine.
“I had to release her back to God.”
The three men arrested for Chelsea’s death appeared in court last week.
They face rape and murder charges.
They will appear again in court on October 15.
