No fewer than 250 persons, including an herbalist, turned out for free treatment for various eye problems at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), on Monday in Ado-Ekiti.

The patients thronged the hospital following a call by the state government on residents with eye problems to come out for treatment free of charge.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that among those that visited the Ophthalmology Department of the university for the exercise was an Aiyegbaju-Ekiti-based herbalist, Chief Ganiyu Ajayi.

Speaking to NAN at the venue of the programme, the Head of Department of Ophthalmology, Dr Funmilayo Fadairo, said the hospital was expecting more patients for the exercise that would last for one week.

According to her, all patients that came for treatment had earlier been screened by a team of experts.

She said that 30 out of the 250 patients had been recommended for compulsory surgery which was also free. (NAN)
