Hon Nyang boosts Banjul South teams

The National Assembly member for Banjul South Constituency, Hon. Baboucarr Nyang last Sunday presented trophies and cash prizes to seven football teams within his constituency.

The presentation ceremony that was held on the fringes of the Banjul City’s Super Cup final between Man City and Ajax saw the parliamentarian giving each of the seven teams footballs and a cash amount of D1000. The beneficiary teams are Ajax, winners of the Super Cup, Ngonyan, Wharf Bi, Heart of Banjul, West Side, Red Tigers and Dam bi FC.

In an interview with the Observer Sports, Hon. Nyang said the donation is a token of encouragement, meant to prepare the teams for the upcoming nawettan season. “I have been doing this donation for the past seven years.” 

Nyang added that at the end of the nawettan season, the performance of the seven teams will be evaluated and the most disciplined team will be awarded with the Alhaji Sheikh Nyang Memorial Trophy, while the best keeper will also be awarded the Alhaji DM Nyang Memorial Trophy and the leading goalscorer will walk away with the Nyanya Salla Memorial Trophy.
