House To Probe Minister Over Reckless Spending Of N10b
The House of Representatives has mandated its committee on public accounts, to probe the alleged reckless spending of over N10 billion by the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Deziani Allison-Madueke for air charter services.
This resolution followed a motion by a lawmaker, Babatunde Adejare entitled: ‘Urgent Need to Investigate the Waste of Resources on the Arbitrary Charter and Maintenance of a Challenger 850 Aircraft for Non-Official Use’.
The lawmaker argued that the minister allegedly spent the money on the maintenance of the Challenger 850 aircraft and its crew in the last 2 years.
The House directed the committee to conclude the investigative hearing within two weeks and report back.
But speaking afterwards, Chairman of the House Committee on Environment, Uche Ekwunife wondered why the investigation was being directed against the minister, saying she too had made use of the aircraft.
