I Compete with My Pockets, says GBM
Mwamba, popularly known as GBM and also former Defence Minister, said he was competing with his pocket and not Matero lawmaker Miles Sampa who converted his gratuity into a revolving fund.
He said as opposed to Sampa his donation had no strings attached.
“I compete with my pocket what I am able to give out. If I may ask is it the first time I am donating my gratuity, if you go back to 2011 you will find that I gave out my gratuity to the people. I ploughed it back to the people that voted for me,” he said.
“Even this gratuity, it is not because my colleague Miles Sampa or whoever has also made a pledge. I have given my gratuity outrightly with no strings attached. My young man Miles Sampa has given his gratuity with some strings.”
Mwamba wondered why people have never questioned his philanthropic acts before and only raised eyebrows when he donated his recent gratuity.
“Basically, I do not actually give out because I want to impress anyone. Look I make so many donations to the churches, why don’t they come and say why have you given out money to the churches or donated to the churches.”
