I Have No Link With Boko Haram, Says Ali Modu Sheriff
A Former Governor of Borno State Ali Modu Sheriff has denied any link with the dreaded Boko Haram.
The ex-governor was responding to an allegation by an Australian negotiator on Boko Haram who claimed that Sheriff was one of the major sponsors and financiers of the group. He said he could not have founded and funded the activities of the insurgents because the sect started before he became the governor of the state .
He said contrary to insinuations in some quarters, he was indeed the first victim of the group. He pointed out that the group had targeted and killed his family members just because he made a law prohibiting Boko Haram in Borno State.
He said he was shocked as the whole story by the Australian negotiator looked senseless and baseless.
