Former Lagos State Governor Asiwaju Bola Tinubu; former National Chairman, Alliance for Democracy (AD), Chief Michael Koleoso; and former military President, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida are among dignitaries to attend the coronation of the Okere of Saki, Oba Kelani Olatoyese Olarinre II, on April 7.

Addressing reporters at the Oba’s palace in Saki, the Chairman of the sixth Coronation Committee, Rasak Olubodun, unfolded the activities for the presentation of staff of office and coronation of the monarch.

Olubodun, who is the Special Adviser on Parastatals to Governor Abiola Ajimobi, said the Chairman, Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III; the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oyewumi; and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Samuel Odulana, are among the first class obas that will attend the ceremony.

The Okere of Saki ascended the throne on May 25, 2006 after the demise of Oba Tijani Abimbola Oyedokun.

Olubodun said the monarch has related very well “with our northern brothers, having served as a Special Assistant to former Niger State Governor Abdulkhadir Kure.

He said: “With the connection of our royal father, the event will attract prominent emirs, obas, obis and traditional rulers across the country.”

“You won’t be surprised to see at the coronation ceremony dignitaries from the different parts of Nigeria, Togo, Benin Republic, Ghana, Niger and other Africa countries. It’s an indication to the fact that our monarch has been enjoying peaceful relations with our neighbours.” The Nation
