A construction company in Rivers State has donated a million naira each to the families of three soldiers killed by sea pirates while rendering security service to the company. Corporal Aliyu Bunu from Sokoto State, Corporal Amawe Godspower, Delta State and Corporal Hassan Ishaku from Taraba State were killed on 22nd October 2013, by unknown gunmen suspected to be sea pirates operating on the Adoni River. The deceased soldiers were, at the time of their death, providing security for Zcubes Construction Company at an NDDC project at Ikuru. Presenting the cheques for the amount to the representatives on behalf of the company, Mr. Olamide Falase, said it was the company’s ‘little way’ of supporting the bereaved. Lt Col Timothy Olusegun Oladuntoye, Commanding Officer of 29 Battalion, thanked Zcubes Company for the gesture, describing it as the first by any corporate organization to show appreciation for the supreme sacrifice by soldiers while on duty in the Niger Delta.
