Inter-state Movement of Corpses Banned– Minister

In its efforts to help control the Ebola disease, the National Council on Health has banned the movement of corpses and critically ill persons on both local and international routes with immediate

effect, Premium Times reports.

It said only dead bodies with waivers granted by the Federal Ministry of Health would be transported within and into the country.

The Minister of Health, Onyebuchi Chukwu, who is the head of the council, said the ban was to prevent of the spread of the deadly Ebola disease that has claimed three lives so far in the country.

Other members of the council are the commissioners of health in all the 36 states and the equivalent in Abuja, as well as the Minister of State for Health.
