Following reports, Thursday, Aug.28, that Comedian Joan Rivers suddenly stopped breathing during a throat surgery, update has it that she’s now in coma, Access Hollywood says.
She was previously in stable condition at the medical facility, TMZ said on Thursday afternoon.
Joan, 81, went in for throat surgery on Thursday at Yorkville Endoscopy when she stop breathing and was rushed from Yorkville to Mt. Sinai hospital at the time.
On Thursday evening, Joan’s daughter, Melissa Rivers, issued a statement.
“I want to thank everyone for the overwhelming love and support for my mother. She is resting comfortably and is with our family. We ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers,” Melissa’s statement read.
Earlier in the day, Mt. Sinai released a statement confirming Joan was at their hospital.
“This morning, Joan Rivers was taken to The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, where she is being attended to,” read the statement from Mt. Sinai. “Her family wants to thank everybody for their outpouring of love and support. We will provide an update on her condition as it becomes available.”
E! also released a statement.
“E!, Fashion Police and NBCUniversal continue to send thoughts, prayers and love to Joan, Melissa and their entire family,” the statement read.
