Mkandawire made the remarks on Tuesday in an interview outside Mzuzu City Council offices soon after submitting his nomination papers to the constituency returning officer in his bid to contest as the city’s councilor.

“Mzuzu is currently very dirty and its structures are in squatters so the council would need to work together with me the expert to reclaim its beauty,” Mkandawire told the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) stringer.

He added that if given the mandate to rule the city, he will civic educate the city’s residents on the goodness of cleanliness and paying revenue so that they handsomely pay to turn-around its hygiene.
