Banned okadasThe Katsina State Police Command has restricted motorcycle operation from 9PM to 6AM across the state capital.

Addressing journalists in the state, the police commissioner, Abubakar Hurdi says the decision was reached after the state’s Security Council meeting, following the attack on a police checkpoint on Tuesday.

“Police snap checkpoints have been increased within Katsina Township to arrest violators of this rule.”

Meanwhile, the Kano state police command has dispelled rumors that its men had defused a bomb at the Audu Bako Secretariat in Kano metropolis, describing it as unfounded.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Magaji Majiya, told journalists that the rumor was calculated by some mischief makers to instil fear in the residents.

“A few weeks ago, some people spread a similar rumor that there was a bomb blast at Dangi Roundabout on Zoo Road, we therefore urged the residents to ignore the rumor and go about their lawful businesses”.

Report says as a result of the rumor, workers in most public and private offices hurriedly closed around 2.30 p.m. yesterday and left the secretariat to avoid possible danger.
