ALBERTON – More intrigue in the Radovan Krejcir saga as the court heard a trial within a trial. The court has to decide whether to accept certain evidence.

Radovan Krejcir and his co-accused are believed to have tortured the brother of a man who had apparently double-crossed them in a drug deal.

Krejcir’s business associate, Desai Lupondo, initially confessed to police, providing details of the alleged torture.

But he has since accused officers of coercing him into making a statement.

Defence advocate Annelene van den Heever has repeatedly butted heads with the judge over her cross-examination of investigating officer Freddy Ramuhala.

The defence has also accused the police of lying and covering up aspects of Lupondo’s arrest and alleged assault.
