kwara-pixDSC5292-700x336Kwara State women, under the auspices of the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), says the achievements of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed are enough to warrant him a second term in office.

The President of NCWS in Kwara State, Hajia Barakat Atunse, led other members of the group to pronounce the endorsement during their courtesy visit to the governor in his office at the Government House, Ilorin.

The women leader said, “without being rhetorical, sir, your shared prosperity project content is having far-reaching positive effect on Kwarans.

“It is devolving and trickling down to the doorsteps of all Kwarans regardless of political colouration or inclination. The project touches on employment, education, health, socio-economic transformation, water, energy, road, etc”, she said.

Hajia Atunse assured of the commitment and support of the women folk to the state government in improving the well-being of women in the state.

The NCWS equally eulogized the wife of the governor, Mrs Omolewa Ahmed for using her LEAH Charity Foundation to impact on the “lives unimaginably, particularly women and children”.

Responding, Governor Ahmed disclosed that the programmes and policies of his administration were women and children-friendly because women played complementary and exemplary roles in family and nation-building.

He pointed out that women in the state accessed the over N700 million Small and Medium Scale Enterprises revolving loans through cooperative societies to empower themselves financially.

He pledged that his government would continue to carry out programmes that would enhance the well being of the women in the state.
