SIRBA LOCALITY

A commercial vehicle was ambushed in Sirba locality, West Darfur, on Saturday.

“A group of gunmen incepted a lorry at gunpoint near Wadi Bir Dageeg on the Sirba-El Geneina road”, the coordinator of the Sirba camps reported to Radio Dabanga. “They severely beat the passengers, and robbed them of all their belongings.”

The coordinator described the security situation as “very unsafe”. “Militiamen are active in the area, committing serious abuses without being held accountable.”

He added that on Saturday 20 goats and two horses were stolen in the area of Kout in the eastern part of Sirba locality. “The gunmen fired into the air, scaring the villagers, and stole their livestock.” “On Friday, gunmen kidnapped a student from her home in Kout, and gang raped her.”
