Low Turn Out Affects PDP, Zagbayi’s Rally in Minna

As Niger East Senatorial Bye-Elections is drawing nearer, the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Niger state recorded a poor turn out in Minna the State capital during a rally over the weekend in support of its Senatorial candidate Dr Shem Nuhu Zagbayi as rain and misty cloud scared people from the opened venue.

The Niger state Handball court which was used had canopies arranged but the storming wind chased away even party faithful from the venue. Some entered their cars while others rushed to the Chanchaga Local Government Secretariat so as not to get drenched.

The PDP zone, it was gathered was on a rally and campaign for its Senatorial candidate Dr Nuhu Zagbayi, a former Deputy Governor of the state. Although, the aspirant was nowhere around the venue as Our Correspondent reliably gathered that he is not a popular candidate in Minna and feared the people could be hostile to him.

The party took advantage of the opportunity to empower 30 widows and 93 youths on various skills acquisition.

The State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Isah Kantigi, enjoined the beneficiaries to take their various trades serious in order to be self reliant.

According to him “today we have empowered you to employ other people in order to create jobs and wealth to develop the society,”.
