Maintain Your Warm Approach, Mwata Kazembe tells Nevers
Senior Chief Mwata Kazembe of the Lunda people of Luapula has advised opposition MMD president Dr Nevers Mumba to maintain his warm and friendly approach to his politics even as he interacts with various people.
This was when Dr Mumba and his entourage which included among others Chembe MMD member of parliament and party treasurer Mwansa Mbulakulima, Elizabeth Chitika-Mulobeka and Peter Machungwa visited the Mwata before attending the Umutomboko traditional ceremony.
The Mwata told the opposition leader that being a leader required one to have a bigger and accommodating heart which allows room for both members of his party as well as non members.
He also called on Dr. Mumba to desist from engaging in petty politics of name calling and insults as doing so would only damage his good name and that such politics will not take Zambia anywhere.
Opposition leaders like Nevers Mumba and Dan Pule where among the many people who attended the ceremony.
And Dr. Mumba said culture and tradition is a foundation of a strong society.
Dr Mumba has since urged Zambians to jealously guard the rich culture and traditions that the country is endowed with.
The opposition leader explained that traditional values are of paramount importance as they give identity to a nation.
He called on parents in the country to educate their children about their culture and teach them the traditional values and norms.
Preceding the Mutomboko-dance at the main arena was the morning session where Mwata Kazembe paid homage to the ancestral spirits at the Miyombo trees before proceeding in a procession to Ng’ona River and later offer sacrifices at the river’s shrine.
Paramount Chief Mpezeni of the Ngoni people of Eastern was among the many traditional leaders that travelled to witness the ceremony.
The PF government was represented by Mines, Energy and Water Development Minister Christopher Yaluma in Mwansabombwe District.
He said Patrotic Front Government respected traditional ceremonies as evidenced by the attendance of ministers at every traditional ceremony in Zambia.
