Many wounded as Guinea police clash with youth
Several people were wounded in the Guinean capital Conakry Friday when police clashed with youth taking part in a funeral procession for two opposition supporters, sources said.
The funeral took place three years to the day after a massacre by Guinean troops that left at least 157 opposition supporters dead.
“I was informed of clashes between protestors and security forces during the funeral for these two youths who were killed last week,” a police official told AFP on condition of anonymity.
“These clashes left many wounded,” he said.
Cellou Dalein Diallo, an opposition leader, said at least one protestor suffered a gunshot wound during the clashes.
