MDGs: FG, Taraba Spend N3.5bn On Provision Of Water

Taraba State government and the federal government have expended about N3.5 billion to provide water to about 840 communities in the state from 2007 to date.

The acting governor, Alhaji Garba Umar, who disclosed this at a session of the Presidential Summit on Millennium Development Goals ( MDGs) and post-2015 development agenda in Abuja, added that before the partnership between the state and the federal government on MDGs in 2007, the state government had drilled a total of 300 boreholes.

Umar explained that hand pump boreholes, solar powered boreholes, spring water development, infiltration galleries and rehabilitation of existing water supply schemes were provided by the government to meet the needs of the people.
