A resident of Hamidiya camp for the displaced in Zalingei locality, Central Darfur, was murdered by militiamen on Sunday. On the same day, a citizen was shot by two gunmen near Nyala, capital of South Darfur.

The coordinator of the Central Darfur camps reported to Radio Dabanga that Ahmed Adam of Hamidiya camp was shot dead on Sunday evening, when he was visiting his mother in Jawiri village, 30 km east of Zalingei, capital of Central Darfur.

“Two militiamen stormed the house of Adam’s mother, and started firing at him. He was hit by seven bullets in his chest and head, and died instantly.”

The coordinator holds the Central Darfur State authorities responsible for the insecurity in the locality, and demanded from Unamid to hunt down the perpetrators.

“Two Janjaweed on camelback ambushed Adam Dabko, when he was returning from his farm in the area of Ama Kasara, north of Nyala, on Sunday”, Hussein Abu Sharati, the spokesman for the Association of Darfur Displaced and Refugees, told Radio Dabanga.

“They shot at him, took his donkey cart and his tools, and fled. Dabko was injured, and taken to a hospital in Nyala for treatment.”

Abu Sharati holds the militias stationed in the area and the South Darfur State government responsible for the insecurity in the region.
